This summer, the members of the Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks and The Residents Committee to Protect the Adirondacks took an important step forward to consolidate and form a new, active grassroots, membership and leading organization, Protect the Adirondacks!

PROTECT is dedicated to the protection and stewardship of the public and private lands of the Adirondack Park, and to build the health and diversity of its human communities and economies for the benefit of current and future generations.

We need your membership support to represent your interests in:

• Well managed private forests through our Sustainable Forestry Project, which offers FSC-certification for qualifying landowners, and a host of environmental and economic benefits to forests, wood product companies, and their host communities
• Careful stewardship of our lakes and ponds through water quality monitoring (lake assessment program)
• A protected wilderness in our Forest Preserve through our work with citizens and the state to manage the Forest Preserve according to the principles of Article XIV, Section 1, the forever wild clause of our State Constitution
• Well-designed land use proposals which harmonize with the Adirondack environment, working forests, and rural communities
