Throughout 2008, the Association for the Protection of the Adirondacks celebrates the 100th anniversary of Paul Schaefer's birth (1908-2008). Each month, we plan to post important milestones, chapters or stories in the conservation career of this remarkable man who lived for over 65 years spearheaded countless battles to protect Adirondack wild river valleys and wilderness.
The Association is so fortunate to have preserved Paul Schaefer's home as a conservation heritage site, and to have built onto his home a permanent Center for the Forest Preserve to extend his work and that of his generation of conservationist far into the future.
