This Library contains the largest collection of Adirondack materials outside the boundaries of the Adirondack Park, as well as a smaller collection of Catskill items, with emphasis upon the origin, history and protection of the Forest Preserve. It also includes the history and culture of the Adirondack and Catskill regions, history of conservation, natural history, early travel, sporting guides, photo and video collections and historic and current maps. Key archival collections highlight the activities and accomplishments of public and private conservation organizations and citizen-activists in protecting the Forest Preserve.
