Protect the Adirondacks applauds Governor Cuomo for his plans to expand the NYS Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) to $300 million in his new state budget to be released later this month. This expansion marks the largest funding level ever for the EPF.
The EPF funds a variety of environmental programs such as land acquisition, farmland protection, invasive species prevention and eradication, waterfront revitalization, solid waste management, state lands stewardship, and environmental justice projects, among other things.
“Protect the Adirondacks applauds Governor Cuomo for his announcement that he will expand the Environmental Protection Fund to $300 million. This marks a recognition of the tremendous environmental threats facing New York and the great opportunities to protect open space, improve public recreation on state lands, and combat invasive species,” said Peter Bauer, Executive Director of Protect the Adirondacks.
