Protect the Adirondacks was proud to honor John Nemjo, proprietor of Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company, which sells canoe and kayaks and outdoor recreational clothing and equipment at locations in Old Forge and Saratoga Springs, with the Adirondack Green Business Award. Founded in 1993, Mountainman has grown to one of the largest outdoor good retailers in New York.

“Protect the Adirondacks is pleased to honor John Nemjo and Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company for his unabashed support for protecting and expanding the Forest Preserve and for his strong support the Adirondack Park and Wilderness, which are infused throughout his businesses,” said Peter Bauer, executive director of Protect the Adirondacks.

John Nemjo has long been an activist on Adirondack issues with the Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra Club. John also has helped PROTECT secure funding from Patagonia. Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company is one of the biggest retailers of Patagonia supplies in New York State.
